UVM Summer Academy is an immersive, academically challenging 4-week program designed for high school students who have completed 10th, 11th, or 12th grade and are interested in earning college credits while exploring a relevant academic interest. Summer Academy courses are designed specific for and enroll only pre-college students.
Our program offers high school students the incredible opportunity to learn from renowned professors and experience an intensive academic environment. You’ll study alongside like-minded students, showcase your potential to college admissions officers, and even earn 3 transferable college credits.
Our course options allow you to access UVM academics while experiencing life on campus. A commuter option is available for those who do not require on campus housing to participate in the academic program.
Students who participate in Summer Academy:
- Stay intellectually engaged over the summer and avoid boredom
- Are exposed to new ideas and perspectives
- Explore topical content areas
- Make new friends from around the country
- Pay high school reduced tuition rates or utilize Vermont dual enrollment vouchers which cover cost of tuition
UVM Summer Academy is a 4-week program with 8 days of on-campus instruction followed by 2 weeks online. One course is offered online only, see list of courses.
Dates: July 2 – 28, 2023
- Arrive on campus/check in to residential hall on July 2, courses begin July 3.
- Checkout is Friday, July 14th by noon.
- Reside on campus two weeks followed by two weeks online.
- Complete all coursework online by July 28th.
- Residential enrichment activities are scheduled for the July 4th holiday.
UVM Summer Academy courses are taught by UVM faculty, and students are evaluated by the same academic standards and procedures as UVM undergraduate students. Completed college credit courses will result in an official college grade and will be added to the student’s University of Vermont transcript.

UVM Pre-College Enrichment Learning Community Experience
The UVM Pre-College Enrichment Learning Community is designed to prepare high school students for life in college and beyond. Students live in campus housing, experience campus life, and learn about the college admissions process. Students also gain an introduction to a variety of University of Vermont resources.Learn more
